You want to raise children who are respectful, resilient, responsible and confident. But maybe lately parenting feels like too much yelling, too many power struggles, and too little of the connection and joy you imagined.
At Common Grace Parenting, we help you understand what's happening beneath your child's behavior—and your own reactions—so you can respond with greater intention, strengthen your relationship, and find a different way forward.

Maybe you start calmly. You ask once. Then again. And again. Eventually you're yelling, threatening consequences, lecturing, taking something away—or saying something you wish you could take back.
You've tried being stricter. You've tried being more patient. You've tried consequences, rewards, punishments, lectures—and promising yourself that tomorrow you'll handle it differently. But somehow the same cycle keeps coming back.
There is no shame here. You don't need someone to tell you all the ways you're getting parenting wrong. You need a safe place to understand what's happening, learn what you may never have been taught, and practice a different way forward.
You want respect, responsibility, resilience, compassion, confidence and wisdom. You want your children to learn to do hard things and grow toward their potential. And you want the relationship, too. You want them to trust that you have their back, come to you when they've made a terrible mistake, and genuinely enjoy being with you.
Grace is not lowering the standard.
It's changing how we grow toward it.
Behavior matters. But behavior is only part of the story. Together, we slow down enough to understand what's happening beneath your child's behavior and beneath your own reactions to it.
Then we turn that understanding into practical tools for the real moments happening in your home.
Because knowledge matters. But wisdom is knowing how to live it.
There was a time when I believed part of my job as a parent was to break my strong-willed child's will. If he resisted, I needed to become firmer. If consequences didn't work, maybe he needed stronger consequences.
Instead, we found ourselves locked in more power struggles. Eventually, I noticed something that frightened me: this child who could appear so confident on the outside was developing a surprisingly low view of himself.
What followed wasn't simply a new set of parenting techniques. It was an invitation to change. I began learning about child development, attachment, the nervous system, emotions and communication—but I also began learning about myself.
I recognized the fear, stress, expectations and generational patterns I was bringing into my parenting—the yelling, shaming and blaming I had never consciously chosen. As I began to change, the way I related to my children began to change too. Not perfectly. Not magically. But there was more understanding. More communication. More connection. More peace. And more joy.
“The LORD is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love.”Psalm 103:8
At Common Grace Parenting, our coaching is rooted in the character of God, informed by trusted research, and expressed through compassionate relationships.
God's character is our foundation. Research into child development, attachment, emotional health and family relationships gives us valuable insight into the children we're raising and the relationships we're building.
Our Christian faith isn't something we hide. It shapes how I understand grace, truth, love, wisdom, formation and human flourishing. But you don't have to share my faith to be welcome here. You will always know the foundation from which I coach—and you will always be met with dignity and respect.
We spend a lot of time thinking about what we're teaching our children. But they're also watching us—how we handle frustration, how we exercise authority, what we do when we're wrong, whether we repair, and how we receive grace ourselves.
Children are not only shaped by what we teach; they are formed by the kind of people we are becoming.
Children who know they are loved and increasingly experience their parents as a safe place for joys, questions, struggles and mistakes.
Relationships strong enough to hold boundaries, disagreement, correction, honesty and repair.
Respect. Responsibility. Resilience. Courage. Compassion. Confidence. Wisdom. Connection doesn't require abandoning these hopes.
Because parenting isn't only about preparing children for adulthood. You're living a life together right now.

Every family is different. But meaningful change becomes much easier when we understand what's driving the patterns we're trying to change. That's why most Common Grace coaching relationships begin with Foundations.
A personalized 12-week, one-to-one coaching journey designed to transform how you understand your children, yourself, and the relationship you're building together. We explore development, attachment, the nervous system, emotions, communication, generational patterns and your family's values—and turn that understanding into practical skills.
For parents who have completed Foundations, continued coaching provides personalized support as new challenges, developmental stages and family transitions arise.
Common Grace offers practical parenting workshops and presentations for parents, churches, groups and organizations.
There is no parenting method that can guarantee who your child will become. Our children are not products we manufacture. They are people—with their own temperaments, gifts, struggles, experiences, agency and decisions to make.
We cannot guarantee that they will always cooperate. We cannot manufacture obedience. We cannot determine whether they will eventually share our faith. And we cannot control their futures.
We can become increasingly intentional about who we are when we show up in relationship with our children. We can learn to lead without shame, hold boundaries without withdrawing love, repair when we get it wrong, and model humility, courage, responsibility, repentance and compassion.
And we can faithfully reflect the heart of the Father while our children are entrusted to our care.
You don't have to become a perfectly calm parent before asking for help. And you don't have to spend the rest of your parenting years trapped in cycles of yelling, guilt and disconnection.
There is another way forward—one that makes room for boundaries and compassion, expectations and connection, growth and grace.
Lead with Grace. Parent with Wisdom.
Meet Stania
Stania Augustin is a mother of four, ages 5–13, and a certified parent coach through the Jai Institute for Parenting. Before stepping into coaching, Stania spent years in education, teaching middle and high school history — work that deepened her love for children and their growth. For the past ten years, she has also co-pastored alongside her husband, walking with individuals and families through their own spiritual and life growth. That same heart for walking with people now shapes her work at Common Grace — helping parents grow in understanding themselves and their children deeply, with sound science backed information, and to exercise grace amidst the challenges of the parenting journey.
My Personal Transformation Story
About five years ago, I picked up a book called How to Talk So Kids Will Listen & Listen So Kids Will Talk — and when I told my children what I was reading, they looked at me and said, "Yeah, Mom. You need that. Because you don't listen."
I was shocked. Absolutely shocked. I thought I was a pretty good parent. I was working hard for my kids — we had routines, structure, love. Among my friends, I was actually known as a great listener. And yet here were my own children telling me I didn't listen. It wasn't that I felt the disconnect — they were feeling it and naming it. I just hadn't been able to see it. It wasn't until coaching that I began to truly understand what connection with your children feels like — and how central it is to everything.
And then something else caught my attention entirely — something I couldn't ignore. My strong-willed 7-year-old, who seemed confident on the outside, had begun to show a surprisingly low view of himself. I didn't know if something in our parenting was leading him there, but I wanted to find out. At the time, I believed it was a parent's role to break a child's will through consequences and punishment until they learned to obey. That's what I had been taught. That's what I knew. But it wasn't working — instead of obedience, I was caught in more power struggles, and his view of himself only seemed to be getting worse. That was what terrified me.
So I began to pray. I kept asking God: I need help with these kids. Something is not right. And through what I can only describe as divine intervention, I was connected to a parent coach from the Jai Institute for Parenting — and what followed transformed our lives completely.
Coaching opened up layer after layer of revelation. I learned the profound importance of being fully present with my children — and discovered that presence isn't just an emotional gift; it has real implications for how their brains develop and wire. I also began to see my own generational patterns with new clarity — the fears and stresses stored in my body, the instincts that felt completely natural but were quietly driving disconnection in my home. The yelling, the shaming, the blaming — I hadn't consciously chosen those things. They had been handed down to me, and I had never stopped to examine them.
I also learned that so much of my frustration came from expecting things of my children that simply didn't match where their brains were developmentally. That realization alone changed so much. And when I began to understand my own nervous system — my triggers, what regulated me, what dysregulated me — and then to understand the same in my children, I finally had real tools for real change.
I learned new ways of communicating — ways that leaned away from blame and shame and toward grace, compassion, and mutual understanding. Ways that also teach my children to become aware of their own feelings and needs, and to advocate for themselves.
My relationship with my children is so much richer now. For most of them, the transformation has been profound — they feel more seen, more understood, and in turn, they trust me. We cooperate and problem solve together. They feel empowered and have agency. They communicate their needs and desires, and we communicate ours. And we make decisions that are in line with our family's values and priorities. Each relationship is on its own journey — and that is part of the beauty of this work. It meets every child, and every parent, exactly where they are.
Yes, parenting is still hard — that's the nature of the job. But I have more peace, and experience more cooperation and joy. We are constantly working on loving one another well, meeting each other's needs, and showing up with grace and curiosity. It is a constant work in progress.
As for my older son, he is still strong-willed — and I thank God for it now. What I once saw as something to be managed, I have come to understand as a gift he was given on purpose, for a purpose. Alongside that strength, he has become deeply empathetic, genuinely cooperative, and remarkably self-aware — a reflection, I believe, of what becomes possible when a parent does that work in themselves first. He advocates for himself with confidence and communicates his needs clearly. He is not a different child. He is the fullest version of who he always was. He leads with both conviction and compassion. I am so grateful.
One thing I feel deeply is how much I wish I had known all of this sooner — when my children were younger. Those earliest years lay so much of the foundation for everything that follows. And if you are in that season right now, with young children, I want you to know: this is the most powerful time to begin. But I am also grateful to have learned about neuroplasticity — the brain's remarkable ability to adapt, change, and rewire at any age. It means that repair is always possible. The work I am still doing with my own older children, day after day, is proof of that. Whether your children are young or older, it is never too late to make a shift that changes the trajectory of your family.
Having lived this transformation myself, I feel called to walk alongside other parents on the same journey. There is no parenting rule book — but there is information. Just as science helps us care for our bodies, it also helps us understand how our children are wired and how to parent in ways that align with that — with how God created us. I want to help parents access that knowledge, so they can respond with intention rather than react from habit.
"This transformation was God-sent. I did not find this path by accident — I was led here. And it is my deepest prayer that every parent I work with gets to experience that same feeling: of being led somewhere better, for themselves and for the children they love."
"You have the ability to take words off the page and put them right in front of me — not in a forceful way, but in an enlightening way. The way you delivered the information was so personalized. I saw myself in it because you didn't allow it to go over my head. You met me where I was. Our sessions always allowed me to see myself in a way I had not seen before. My life is forever changed. As a mother, this is the best thing that ever happened to me. I wanted it, I needed it, and the way you delivered it was exactly the way I needed it to be delivered. You gave me words."— Common Grace Client
